The Castro LGBTQ Cultural District is excited and proud to partner with the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, GLBT Historical Society, Caro de Robertis and our own District Director, Tina Aguirre in presenting Conjuring Power: Roots & Futures of Queer & Trans Movements- a multimedia exhibition exploring the resilient beauty, cultural richness, and fierce resistance of Bay Area queer and trans communities.

Broadly organized as a journey through time, this multimedia exhibition explores how queer and trans communities harness creativity to build culture, sustain one another, and strengthen movements across generations. The exhibition features the works of Ester Hernández, Serge Gay, Jr., Tanya Wischerath, and Crystal Mason, and emerging artists from the Queer Ancestors Project, as well as archival material from the GLBT Historical Society and audio clips from Caro De Robertis’ oral histories with the groundbreaking Elders Project. Accompanying public programs include panel discussions, gallery talks, and live performances.

The District extends its warmest congratulations to the artists and staff who came together in this exhibition and especially to Tina and their co-curator Caro de Robertis on an incredible success, fabulous opening night, and multifaceted programming that will take us into Pride and culminate in Transgender History Month.  The exhibition runs through August 23, 2026.
